 WIPO Asia-Pacific Regional Seminars on the Protection of Broadcasting Organizations; on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances; and on the Protection of Copyright in the Digital Environment

 From July 12 to 16, 2010 in New Delhi, India, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Government of India organized the WIPO Asia-Pacific Regional Seminars on the Protection of Broadcasting Organizations; on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances in Asia; and on the Protection of Copyright in the Digital Environment.

  

There were 15 participants from Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Srilanka, Thailand, Vietnam and India. The main topics of these seminars were the Draft WIPO Treaty on the Protection of Broadcasting Organizations, the Draft WIPO Treaty on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances and the Proposed WIPO Treaty for Improved Access for Blind, Visually Impaired and other Reading Disabled Persons which will be discussed at the next meeting of the Standing Commitee of Copyright and Related rights of WIPO.

The participants were also informed about the new structure of WIPO as well as the WIPO’s action plan at their members.
