The WIPO Asia Pacific regional forum on copyright and related rights is jointly organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Government of Singapore, took place in Singapore from 29th to 30th, October 2009. Participants are from countries in Asia Pacific Regional: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

This Forum looked critically at the profound impact of an evolving copyright system in the digital world; New Business Models in Selected Copyright Industries; Challenges and Opportunities in Using the Copyright System to Create Economic and Cultural Value; The Role of Governments and Copyright Administrators. The event brought together copyight administrators, policy-makers and representatives of industry and businesses, rightsholders, users and consumers, before a host of renowned international and local speakers, in a dialogue to address the above and other related issues.
