On the 22nd February 2007, The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued “Instructions on the strengthening of computer program copyright protection”.

The theme of APEC 2006 is “Towards a Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”. Following this purpose, Vietnam has reached the significant achievement through the way to join WTO successfully.

In the framework of working program in 2010, a Training Conference of Intellectual Property Law on Copyright and Related Rights was organized by The Copyright Office of Vietnam on June 8 - 11, 2010 in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The Recording lndustry Association of Vietnam (RIAV) established in November 2003, mainly aimed to protect the legal rights and duties of its members - compact disk and tape producers. For the main duty of protecting rights and legitimate benefits of its members, RIAV issued the tariff for using production in October 2007, signed contracts with several music business entities on using products of its member in March and April, 2008, and warned companies that were currently using products illegally by official dispatches, but at the same time encouraged them to negotiate with RIAV to get the license. These are the achievements resulted from RIAV’s efforts in protecting its legal rights.

Within the last three quarters of 2007, the Copyright Office of Vietnam accepted and issued 2,304 Copyright and Related Rights Registration Certificates for authors and owners, an fifteen percent increase in the Registration Certificates issued in the same period of 2006.

From July 12 to 16, 2010 in New Delhi, India, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Government of India organized the WIPO Asia-Pacific Regional Seminars on the Protection of Broadcasting Organizations; on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances in Asia; and on the Protection of Copyright in the Digital Environment.

The WIPO Asia Pacific regional forum on copyright and related rights is jointly organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Government of Singapore, took place in Singapore from 29th to 30th, October 2009. Participants are from countries in Asia Pacific Regional: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

From July 29 to 31, 2009, The WIPO Asia-Pacific Regional Symposium on Copyright Related Aspects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) will to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
