 Copyright and Related Right Registration in the Third Quarter of 2007

 Within the last three quarters of 2007, the Copyright Office of Vietnam accepted and issued 2,304 Copyright and Related Rights Registration Certificates for authors and owners, an fifteen percent increase in the Registration Certificates issued in the same period of 2006.

 

During the third quarter of 2007 alone, there were 925 Registration Certificates issued for authors and owners, an increase of fifty percent from that of the first and second quarter of the same year, and an increase of eighty percent over that of the same quarter of 2006. Among Registration Certificates issued during this time period were 923 Copyright Registration Certificates and two Related Rights Registration Certificates.  

There were 471 works of applied fine arts, which accounted for over fifty percent of the total registered works, 177 writings, 111 works of art, 87 musical works, 73 computer programs and other categories of registered works in the third quarter. The number of applications for Registration Certificates submitted directly by authors and owners accounted for two-thirds of the total applications while only one-third of total applications submitted by copyright consultants and service organizations during this quarter. 

 It is forecasted that about 3,500 total Copyright and Related Rights Registration Certificates will be issued in the year of 2007.
